​S1 - S6

Senior School in Cedars is a time of challenge and opportunity. Our pupils thrive in smaller classes and tutorial groups. Expert teachers nurture potential and mentor pupils through this exciting stage in their school career.

​Stepping Stones S1 - S4
Taking place one afternoon a week for all pupils in S1 - S4, this forms a core part of our approach to ensuring a well rounded, whole - person educational experience in the Senior School. Find out more here.

Gateway S5/6
As students enter S5 and S6, they join Gateway. Students encounter new experiences and opportunities that will give them the tools to become confident, connected communicators. Find out more here.

Learner Journeys in Cedars

We create tailor - made pathways through each pupil's Senior School years. Our young people leave with positive destinations, and with the connections and skills they need to thrive.

Secondary 3 and Secondary 4
As pupils study their National courses they are supported with guided tutorials on study techniques and are taught core skills for organisation and study. Pupils thrive in the focused and supportive environment at Cedars.

Secondary 5 and Secondary 6
​We offer a range of subjects at National 4, 5, Higher and Advanced Higher and our links with West College Scotland have widened the opportunities available to our students.  In S6, some students take courses with the Young Applicants in Schools Scheme. YASS is a school based programme run through the Open University in Scotland. These courses allow students to study a subject of a particular interest at a preparatory level for university.

Residentials

Our residential trips are a highlight for our Senior School pupils. Past trips for Senior School have included London, Rwanda, Edinburgh, Florence, the Battlefields in Belgium and France, and Paris.

This year, pupils in S3 - S6 had an amazing week in London for a week of cultural experiences and a chance to get to know the capital. 

In June 2024, all S1 - 6 are going to Paris!

Our pupils run Clubs to share their interests with others, and so each year, different clubs and activities are on offer, reflecting the interests of the pupil body.

Duke of Edinburgh

All pupils in S3 - S6 are offered the opportunity to enter the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. Pupils are supported through each part of this by the school, working closely with parents. Each year we have pupils working for their Bronze and Silver Award, and many pupils go on to achieve their Gold Award in the summer after S5 or S6.
